The day started with a game of camouflage in the bike park. It was super icy so the Owls had to be pretty nimble to get from hiding place to hiding place. While playing camouflage the Owls found some new pallets in the bike park. This led to the class working on fixing up the existing tree fort. They primarily aimed on reinforcing the platform and taking down unstable parts. They worked on cleaning up the site and salvaging nails from the lumber that was strewn across the ground. When we are back on the bluff in two classes, they want to make a pulley system to bring up one of the planks and stabilize the whole fort. There is no stopping this little class and their big ideas!

We headed up to our regular spot to play some listening and trust games. Everyone has a big voice and lots of ideas in this little class and we are working on the listening part of working together. They did a really good job at leading one another through an obstacle course to bring certain objects like discs, stuffies, balls to the starting point. We are going to keep working on the call and listen game to see if they can retrieve the poison frog in under 8 minutes. Ask your Owl about the role they played. Could they see and not speak? Could they listen, speak, but not see? Or could they hear and not see or speak?

During free time the Owls worked on expanding the teepee into a 'Viking log house.' It is impressive and they are working really hard on finding enough logs as well as embracing all the ideas!

Before lunch we made some clay pots to make fat lamps when we are back on the bluff. We had lunch on the bluff, which was short and sweet as the winds began to pick up.

For the afternoon we headed to Sammies park to make fires, char cloth and yummy roasted apples. The Owls 'blew' me away with their fire making skills! Everyone successfully made a fire in groups of two or by themselves in the gusting 40-60km winds! I believe one fire was started with one match even. I am so impressed. Once the fires were made and joined together we made char cloths to use as a fire starter. It was super cool to see how they were made. We will see now how they will lite. Ask your Owl about the process.
