Coyotes, Jan 14

The warm weather is getting us scratching our heads...how can we keep challenging the Coyotes in learning skills (physical, social, emotional, bushcraft) without snow? Well, here's what we came up with!

We are going to be using our hands more, with carving, compass work, maps, fire, knots, and shelter building. Today, we were deep into carving a spreading knife (ask your Coyote what that is, and what they hope to spread!) in the hot sun. We figured out how to make a saddle, a hole in our wood, and that splitting the wood first to make it thinner was much easier!

Next week your Coyote can bring a taste of their favourite spreadable to put on crackers!

After some other adventures (making creatures from different animal parts, trust games and a 'melty sit spot', we decided to explore the huge snow hill at the Curling Club. From there, group digging, climbing and a snowball site ensued!

We are helping the class build positive views of each other, and look for the positive in each other. Choosing an animal that has a characteristic of someone they saw that day helps notice what each other is doing well.

We hope to explore more out of the city; hikes, xc skiing, and some spring adventures...we'll keep in touch!
