Today was a mix of tunnel digging, skating, dying fabric, cartography, and working on our knife. We have a few things to think about for next week!

We'd like to use our knives next week, so we are all going to try to bring either a spreadable (since we're making spreading knives) or something to put a spreadable on. I'll bring the Nutella and french bread!

We also wanted to do more research on other ways to dye material. We'd like to sew or quilt with our dyed fabrics, but are looking to add more colours. So far, we have yellow, a light orange, green, purple and a strange grey.

Next week, we'll be heading to Big Hill Springs Provincial Park! Please come to the Cabin for 9 am, prepared to be outside the whole day. Please bring $5 for gas money.

Here are some of Ari's thoughts from the day:

Digging the tunnel:

"It's very hard. It's icy." That was true! It's pretty solid!

How to take a bearing and transfer that bearing to a map:

"Point the arrow to where you want to go, then you put red in the shed, then you look at the number that the arrow lines up to. Take the compass, line the dot between the white and red arrow, then put the arrow to where you want to go. Draw in the direction of the arrow."

On skating:

"Skating was the highlight of my day."

Thanks Ari!
