The day began on Prince's Island using the UTM system co-ordinates to find places marked on the map around the park. This coordinate system divides the world into a grid, making it easier to pinpoint exact spots, well to a 10x10m square in our case. The coyotes took turns reading the coordinates from the map, developing their skills in navigation and spatial thinking.

Returning to the cabin for lunch and to warm up we had a surprise, the heating wasn’t working! Ironically, the afternoon air and sunshine on the bluff felt warmer than the chilly cabin. Bean spotted an abandoned sled on the bluff. Jackpot! The girls tried it out and then moved on to body sledding and crashing into each other.

The Coyotes experimented with dyeing using blackberries. They crushed the berries to release their deep purple juice and used it to color fabric. We talked about what we can make with all the different coloured fabrics.

We are planning to go skating next week at Prince's Island Park:

Bring your skates and game ideas.
