Sweet Goodbyes - Red Foxes, June 18

upstreamforestschool

Our final class started today in knots - human knots to be precise. Our class successfully "untied" the knot without anyone letting go of hands! We upped the challenge by trying to tie a knot in a piece of rope without anyone letting go of the rope. This was tough, but with Maryam's creative thinking and everyone working together we were able to accomplish this great feat. A game of switch in the long wet grass was our next activity. Every time a goal was scored the game changed (soccer, rugby, basketball, repeat).

Once the final goal was scored and we were thoroughly wet, we turned our attention to our paper mache ice cream cones of last week. Everyone carefully painted their cones, mixing colours to get them just right. Then there was some free time to finish up past projects, invent games, counsel with your advisors, battle against the enemy (or spy!), and walk your pet Theo.

After lunch we took turns saying our class goodbyes as we signed yearbook pages and broke off to sketch and paint a picture of our favorite trees from the past year.

We then prepared for the arrival of our special guests - our families! We were so thrilled to have parents and siblings swing, climb, balance, and hop through the obstacle course, complete with our carved spikes. The frisbee station seemed to be a favorite with all our guests and our class was so proud to teach the families to play double ball (congrats to the winning team!).

Best wishes to each of our students for a wonderful summer. Thank you for bringing your enthusiasm and cheerful love for the outdoors to our class each week. Each of you are a delight and treasure in your own unique way!

Thank you families for your commitment to forest school and an outdoor childhood for your children.
