Another beautiful fall day for our Squirrels class! With our successful lady bug catching last week we started off the class looking for all sorts of bugs. The Squirrels quickly found the red alder box beetles and were able to catch a few. On the walk up we attempted some ants a grasshopper, centipede and spotted a butterfly! Ask your squirrel which bug they caught.
Then we created leave art by finding different colors, sizes, and textures of leaves and creating people, critters or bugs with them. Everyone choose a different design and used the leaves in different ways, a few squirrels incorporated sticks and berries as well! The Squirrels class is very encouraging of each other and it was fun to show our final creations to each other.
During free time most of the Squirrels gravities towards the kitchen and spent their time creating soups, muffins and coffee. With our limited selection of dishes and tools the Squirrels work together to share the water and popular items, often collaborating with another friend. Today in the kitchen many of the items we used for crafting made an appearance in the recipes as well!
We finished off the class with some games, played a few we already new and learned a couple new ones. Games are a great way to stay warm in winter and so we plan on learning lots while the weather is fair! Ask your Squirrel if they tired being the octopus in our game.
