We continue to enjoy this beautiful fall weather, our time outside and each others company. It has been fun to build up the repertoire of games the squirrels understand and enjoy playing each week as we keep learning new games and going back to old games that everyone loves. The rock, paper, scissors - Chase! game we learned today was lots of fun.
Two highlights of our day were the mapping activity, and the feeling and drawing game.
Ms. Jessie drew a treasure map that we had to follow, by identifying landmarks in our environment. At the end of the hunt, treasures were uncovered. This was a chance to talk more about maps, directions and the topography of our place.
In the feeling and drawing activity, students had to use only our sense of touch to reach into a bag and draw the object they felt. Some of the items in the bag were a pinecone, lego wheel, goggles, metal paper clip, and a gourd. This was also a good test of self control as some of us wanted to shout out our guesses right away before everyone had a chance to feel in the bag. This would be a fun and easy activity to try at home with your squirrel.
