Coyote Mouse has become one of our favorite games to play on the way up the hill. The kids favorite is when all the teachers are mice and they all try to catch us as coyotes. Some of the kids are working on strategies, being sneaky, fast, or distracting the coyotes. Oftentimes a combination of the three is key!

We found treasure when we arrived at our spot today! Calliope said the Monday squirrels had left it for us. It was colourful, frozen ice blocks in different shapes arranged neatly. The squirrels wanted to make their own, so we made a bird feeder version. Pouring coloured water into molds, the squirrels picked the colour, shape (heart or disc) and added a string handle and birdseed. Next class, when they're fully frozen we can hang them on trees for the birds to peck at and for us to look at!

The kids love to adventure, and today we decided to go straight up! There was a great view at the top, of the bluff and city and on the way we found a secret house and a hidden path. Then we went to the special spot hidden in the bushes we like to play at, some of us taking the top road to find a spot to slide and others adventuring through the bushes. Ms. Jessie found a great spot for sliding down, where the snow and grass and ice combination made it super fast. We had to work together to climb to the top because it was slippery, but the kids discovered that if you grabbed onto the plants it was easier to climb. After we all slid down we made it back for a story and snack after all the sliding.

Our book was called Arctic White and made us think of our white, winter day. The day was finished with some sledding and snow kitchen with coloured water. See you again next week Squirrels!
