Today we did some smashing and hammering. We smashed up the remaining coloured ice blocks we found last week using hammers and mallets. The squirrels then really lived up to their name by carefully hammering walnuts still in their shells. The objective was to break it open without breaking the walnut inside. This proved a tricky balance but the squirrels did really well. The walnuts we added to silicone molds we will fill with water and freeze. Next week we can hang them for the squirrels. Speaking of squirrel feeders, the bird feeders we made last week froze beautifully! We hung them on trees for the birds to enjoy!

We played an animal guessing game - we had to behave like the animal on the card, with the others guessing who we were.

The squirrels also made their own crayons today! We each picked a coloured crayon and smashed it into little pieces. Then we put the pieces in a mold and made little bug crayons by melting the bits on the fire. Have your squirrel show you their bug crayon!

We played coyote mouse again and rock paper scissors tag with the ROwls (the older kids in FS). The kids enjoy being on teams with the older kids and love new games! Today we also got to run away from Ms. Melanie down the hill- the squirrels love chasing games. We finished off with a game of camouflage at the bottom of the hill.

See you, Squirrels
