Red Foxes, March 5

upstreamforestschool

The cold today didn't stop us from having an amazing experience! We enjoyed challenging ourselves to learn Morse Code, something that could inspire us in our fort play. We also learned a new game that is like soccer, rugby, and football all together!

We are wrestling with each other, and following our rules of rough and tumble play. We know how we want to be treated, and make sure we treat others the same way. However, during the play the desire to be a little more rough than we are comfortable can emerge; we are discussing this, and working on how to respect our boundaries, and ask for our boundaries to be honoured.

Joe took notes off the map of Calgary, and led us to the Gallery (if he can do it, you can do it too!). We loved looking around at the amazing art, and talking to the owners about what an artist is and how they work. One of the artists there even gave us a short demonstration of how they work with gypsum - amazing!

Our own art evolved a great deal over our time; it was a hard decision, but we took the leap to start with a fresh vision. This time, we collaborated on a larger piece, instead of working individually on our pieces, then putting them together. We found it was coherent. This is an excellent metaphor we will use in discussing forts, boundaries and wrestling; we actually do better, and 'produce' better, together, using a big picture we can all work off of. We are so proud of their journey to get there, and the final piece!
