The Rabbits are spending their whole class time working on their shelters, and now are adding camp furniture! Learning some knots and binding techniques is opening up new doors for creativity! At the beginning of class, I asked the children to make models of the four shelters they know; ask them at home and see if they remember (we used tiny sticks, but pencil crayons would work as well!). Our building challenge was to build a ladder, using lashing and frapping, that could hold the entire other team. We are also delving into the Indigenous history of the land we are on, beginning with their dwellings. The children know so much already! We will continue to explore this theme with the symbolism on tipi covers next week.
