We have a new sled - (slash) - wagon - (slash) stretcher! Tucky took the first turn bringing it up the hill and a number of others had a try throughout the day. The harness is a little large but the Owls were keen to weigh in with their opinions as we try it out.

A few weeks ago we challenged the Owls to pair up and make obstacles for the rest of the class. This time we challenged them to create obstacles that would be completed while blindfolded. A lot of thought went into how to maximize the uneasiness of not seeing and relying on the need to communicate well with one another to complete the obstacle. We had a gathering/pulley obstacle, a throwing and building obstacle and a stealth obstacle where you had to avoid touching scattered objects while under a tarp.

Next we worked together to make a triangle frame to use for transporting one another. Once the structure was built no one was too keen on taking a ride so the Owls decided to use it to transport backpacks to the cabin. However before heading to the cabin, the Owls were busy making miniature shelters. Free time was inspired by making mini tipis, insulating the tipis and making a mini-triangle cabin - kind of like an a-frame. While Tucky, Hazel, Bean, Anaia and Machen were busy working on the shelters Simon and Huxley worked on preperations for the winter market. They became skilled at making fake cinnamon powder from sanding fallen wood. They sorted and experimented with different woods, sanding grades and techniques to come up with different types of cinnamon - ranging from mud kitchen spice to fire starter to an extra fine powder that could be used to make paints. Eventually their focus and manufacturing of the cinnamon interested the rest of the Owls and for the rest of free time everyone worked together in its production.

At the cabin we warmed up, ate lunch and embroidered our double-balls before heading out for a game. We went to the field and tried making a goal post with the logs from the tripod. We did some drills to warm up and then had a fast paced game of double ball. Identifying that we need to work on our stick skills, stealing and passing, we plan to practice more next week.

For our sit spot we rolled snow into balls and noticed prints in the snow. We wrapped up the day with a debrief of what things we found really easy to do in the day and the things that we found difficult.
