The Owls are being challenged to train both their bodies and their minds! Here's what that looked like in our class today.
First of all, our bodies. We know how active the Owls like to be, so with some wrestling training games, we are helping them achieve balance, agility, stealth, smarts, speed and of course, strength. Ask you Owl which wrestling game they enjoyed the most, and which was the most challenging!
As for our minds, we are learning Poi. Poi spinning involves concentration, practice and like any skill, repetition. Rikia is teaching us some drills and a few moves that we can link together. We can't wait to show you what we can do! However, before that, we are training ourselves not to give up. When it gets boring, keep going, was the mantra today. Some reported it was easier to practice alone (during our Sit Spot) and others enjoyed being together. It was hard, but we did it!
We are excited about our field trip next week! Let's dress for the weather, and pack extra mittens and socks just in case. It's better to be too warm than too cold! Pick up and drop off will be at 12 Mile Coulee parking lot. See you then!
