Owls, May 2nd

We planned for a rainy & cold day, but except for a few showers we had a wonderful spring day. Jackets and mitts came off as we warmed up with a game of Dolphin Golf. The Owls really took to this game and made it their own by adding interference, umbrellas and mild tackling. They showed how they could work together in teams and think quickly on their feet as they tried to make it to the end of the course first.

After warming up, the class split into two groups and were given a number of tarps to set up their own tarp city. It did turn into a friendly competition about who could make the best tarp. It was decided after that one of the tarps was perfect for lunch because it had more height and the other one was perfect for staying warm and dry when it started to rain.

The tarps were up and after lunch the Owls prepped for the spring market that they are hosting on May 16th. They made seed bombs, a clay turtle, giant spruce cone bird feeders, bow and arrows, mystery bags, a marvelous orange-calendula-coconut tea (you won't want to miss out on this!) and more.

As the afternoon waxed on some of the Owls were absorbed in market prep and some of the Owls helped Mrs Lea set up the parkour course from last week. The Foxes made the same course and timed themselves going through - challenging the Owls to beat their time. Ask your Owl if they succeeded.

For our sit spot the Owls worked on their hemp necklaces or chose something to make for the market. Ending the day we had a one word debrief where we went through the day and the Owls had to pick one word to describe the different parts of the day.

We cannot wait for our field trip next Thursday!
