Last class the Nuthatches were all about exploring new spaces, so this week we continued to find new areas on our hill side. Today we followed an animal print through the trees (bunny perhaps) until we came to our mini rock wall. The Nuthatches are great problem solvers when they get hung up by a branch or steep hill exploring and are great at looking out for each other. Once we were in the Cabin we read some books on how animals stay warm in winter and conducted an experiment of our own. The Nuthatches made a nest or cave with a little vile containing water. They had to make their nest warm enough so when we put it outside the water vile wouldn't freeze. Ask your nuthatch how warm their nest was? Next week during our exploration we will keep an eye out for other animal homes and footprints.
