The Foxes practiced their suture skills using a blanket stitch on bananas. It's unlikely that they will be in a situation where they have to do stitches on someone, but we thought we would practice some advanced first aid after they performed questionable surgery on their halloween pumpkins.

It was a cold day on Tuesday with dropping temperatures, rain, wind and snow. The Foxes warmed up with Animal Game where they were challenged with new environmental events that impacted plants, herbivores, omnivores and carnivores all differently. Still warm, but with the threat of dropping temperatures and rain, the Foxes set out to put up warming tarps. Starting with three separate shelters, the tarps were amalgamated to make one large and one medium shelter to have lunch in. Our challenge to the Foxes is 'how to keep your clothing dry on the inside and how to keep your belongings somewhat organized in a dark shelter.

In the afternoon the Foxes had a knife making workshop led by Greyson. We will continue working on the knives over the coming weeks. Except for next week when we are going to go on our first field trip to Edworthy Park and hike the Douglas Fir Trail. Please encourage your Fox to pack lightly and only bring the essentials. We will not be carving on the trail. Along with the knife making workshop, some of the Foxes started to work on making the bodies of their apple face dolls.
