It felt like we were 'living on the edge' today, with the colder weather, the snow, and no indoor space! All of us seemed more prepared than usual - our backpacks were filled with mittens and gloves and hand warmers - thank you! And thank you for driving the extra miles - I think it was worth it! Here's why...

It's not often that this group gets challenged to be resilient in this way - the cold, the walking, the needing to take care of their things and body... we asked a lot of them today, and they rose to the challenge! Even though we got cold, we took care of ourselves, made note of what we needed, and did it. This is a great step forward for all of us!

The firs thing we found was a mound of snow, which the quickly turned into a snow fort. Well, maybe not quickly - there was a lot of ice packed into it! But, we had brought tools to work with ice and snow, and used them well!

Our second adventure was a tall, long sledding hill, which made the snow blow up in our faces, and made us warm climbing up over and over. Some were fascinated by a little creek (Oh, that we had a little creek on the Bluff!) but told in no uncertain terms not to get wet, or drink it! Finally I had to move them...it was too risky to get wet that day!

We then found a fort that had been started, and with teamwork and good leadership (ask your Fox about 'thin ice!') we hauled long logs to add to it. Some decided to sled the steep hill instead, but both activities kept us warm!
