The Foxes started out 2025 with impressing the teachers in three major ways! First was their sled making skills and perseverance in making their designs come true. Using loose parts the Foxes made their own sleds that we took up to the 'tear drop' to test out. It's not easy drilling through a ski to attach a seat, but the Foxes worked hard and were able to see what works best in making a sled go. At the 'tear drop' we found a jump, which was lots of fun. Ask your Fox what was their favourite sled and how did they like to ride....penguin style, standing, sitting.... Along with sled making the Foxes practiced their compass skills by mapping directions for each other and then finding the hidden candy canes left by the other group.
Second was their conversation skills and use of their indoor voices during lunch! Perhaps we tired them out or they had a lot to talk about and catch up with each other about after the break.
Third was their fire making skills and working as a group. With no help or guidance from the teachers, the Foxes built a roaring fire. This was entirely their idea. They used what they had in their backpacks. They organized themselves and were super successful. Greyson also discovered a cool new art form by burning wax paper with embers. Way to go Foxes!
Quick reminder that we are having our skating party on Saturday January 25th from 10-12pm at Sammies Park...bring some snacks to share and skates for a little gathering of our Upstream families.
