The day started with. yet a new version of Capture the Fort. This time instead of snowballs the Foxes used double-balls and stuffies. They game required new strategies to win. I think the Foxes are still fine tuning the game, but it's close to being a favourite!
Again, the Foxes spent a great deal of the morning wrestling. They played the old favourite that is newly dubbed 'Get the Whale' and some new ones like Snakes in the Grass and Kights and Horses.
During wrestling, Maisey and Talia made little figures in the snow with Ms. Nicole who subbed for Ms. Lea in the morning.
To wrap up the morning the Foxes tobogganed and made jumps. The slopes got more and more slippery as the morning progressed. There are three runs in the making and two ramps. Fingers crossed the snow stays and it should get slick in the next couple days.
For lunch we collaboratively made a fire. It was tricky because we didn't bring any super dry wood and had to use what the Foxes could forage. Ask your Fox if they tried lighting the fire with a flint and steal; how did it go; did they manage?
After cutting the vegetables for the soup the Foxes combined all the yummy ingredients that were brought. We were pleased to make a completley gluten free soup for one of the Foxes that are celiac and to make the soup out of Theo's delicious bone broth. While the soup cooked the Foxes made bannock. I have to say it was a five star lunch! Ask your Fox what they thought? Also, how hard was it to maintain a fire with a dutch oven in its centre? Is there something we could have done better?
To end the day we challenged the Foxes with their own fire making. Breaking up into pairs the Foxes had ten minutes to get all the supplies for their fire and that was all they could use to light the fire, build the fire and maintain the fire. The teachers thought that everyone were winners at this challenge as the cold wind started to blow and we had less than desirable matches.
