From Safiya:
"This week at Forest School the Coyote’s started their day by practicing their tracking skills. They did this by trying to read the tracks of their fellow Coyote’s. Each of the Coyote’s dipped their shoes in water and created tracks which they measured and got familiar with. After they recorded the data, they split into teams of two, and chose one person to create tracks for the other team to figure out. The Coyotes practiced this a couple of times before they got familiar with reading the tracks. They were then told that they would be using their tracking skills to track and examine the behavior of actual coyotes on the bluff. After this activity, the Coyotes got to enjoy some free time which was followed by lunch. At lunch, they discussed all of the details of their hike (which they had no idea about from before). They talked about where they would be going, what clothes to wear, and how much food to bring. After a fun drawing lesson by Vita, the Coyote’s went back outside to prepare for mini forest school. When they went to greet the kids, they were pleasantly (and a little overwhelmingly) surprised with one of the largest groups they ever had! While they hosted mini forest school, they noticed what worked well and what didn’t, and they discussed this at the end of the day. They finally went home, excited for the hike next week at Forest School. "
What a lovely blog, Safiya! You sound so professional. 😎
