Coyotes, Feb 25

We had an amazing day of skiing - as some of us learned, it's a lot harder than downhill skiing!

We practiced the following skills:

-diagonal skiing

-double poling

-one-step double pole

-herringbone and side stepping

-straight running and wedge

-wedge turning (not parallel turning!)

-drills without poles to maximize leg use

Everyone did an amazing job to keep motivated when they were tired, and give this sport a try! Some fell in love with it, and some can't wait to get back on a real ski hill. Either way, they got a little bit of experience that will stay with them forever.

We each had an intention for the day to try and live out - see what your Coyote's was!

We hope they will continue this skills whenever possible! It's a great, low-cost way to enjoy being outside in the winter. And there are usually great snacks involved.

We continue our adventures with a rock climbing day coming up - we are hoping to have everyone on the same page when it comes to belaying, so they can belay each other in another outdoor climbing adventure at Yamnuska.
