We're so glad that this little class came together and are looking forward to a wonderful year with the Cottontails!
We started the day with some name games - although Mrs. Rikia was probably the only one who kept mis-pronouncing names. We moved into trying to coordinate as a group with a game of keeping the balls and stuffies up.
For lunch we read the book 'Wild' and shared our own styles of playing. This was followed by an engaging animal version of Who Am I. Our volunteer, Mrs. Anika had the trickiest animal to guess. Ask your Cottontail if they remember what her animal was.
Moving into free play Awyn set up the hammock with Jono and Mettaya while Breanne and Priya played an imagination game. We brought them back together with the tool circle and rock/face painting.
For our last running around activity we tried out the hammer toss. It proved to be tricky to keep the toss on the pathway, but everyone was keen and cheering one another on. No hammers were used - we opted for a stuffy toss instead!
We ended the day with peeling apples with the Jonny Seed apple peeler. Everyone enjoyed their own accordion apple. Mrs. Rikia brought home the rest of the peeled apples to make apple chips that we can enjoy next week!
