Our first real snow day of the year and oh what fun we had!

We had first tracks down zombi hill and had fun flying through the powdery snow. Making a jump was attempted but it became more of a fun obstacle to crash through.

We spent some time trying to find tracks in the snow. Finding undisturbed snow behind our usual spot we were challenged with finding a canine track, squirrel tracks and bird tracks. We found many sizes of dog tracks and learned the difference between coyotes and domesticated dogs prints. We have yet to find bird tracks.

Making our way to the cabin for lunch we continued looking for tracks. At the cabin we read a book called Mixed Beasts and drew what we thought would be the prints of each beast. We referenced a field guide to see what different prints looked like and inform our sketches. As a class we decided to put 'A Wolf Called Wander' aside for a while thinking it might be a better book for when they are Foxes.

We also started working on little mushroom worlds made of felt, corks and egg cups before we headed out to play in the snow again.

Thank you Avyn for bringing and sharing your homemade snow board with us!
