Burrowing Owls, Jan 25

We had the pleasure of meeting with the Squirrels class today for some combined mapping and treasure hunting activities! As always, it ended in sledding!

The Burrowing Owls are honing in on what makes a good map; from Bird's Eye View to Street View, we each have our preferences. With our skills developping, we feel we're ready to add compass work to our projects.

The Squirrels were a joy to befriend today, and they did an excellent job challenging us in finding the objects they hid and then mapped! We hope to meet up with them again!

Our fire making skills are progressing; we are all comfortable with matches, and are learning how to find the right tinder to begin with. Also, having enough kindling and firewood to keep the fire going is important!

Ask your Owl:

  • what challenged you the most today?

  • what does your Meeple look like?

  • what is your favourite tinder to use?

next week we will be meeting at our regular spot, but walking to Prince's Island Park for some dedicated sled building and sliding, and some investigations into the natural areas there. Thanks for trying your best to meet us at 9:00 am!
