Our first class of Squirrels was filled with lots of fun, imaginative play and a few games! Everyone got into the swing of forest school whether it was their first class or returning back from summer. We started the afternoon with a scavenger hunt, observing the different plants and critters we share our space with. We collected big leaves, tiny leaves, grass taller than most of the Squirrels and some beautiful flowers. Ask your squirrel what was their favorite thing to collect!

Once we arrived at our spot we explored the area by cutting different plant materials with scissors. Some of the children used the scissors to collect grass to make a little grass person. Ask your child if there was anything that was really easy or hard to cut.

After refueling with a snack we played a forest school favorite game, Squirrels vs Bobcats. This games is a great way to see how comfortable everyone is with being chased and running. Looks like we will have lots of games in our future!

The day ended with some free play and tools. A few squirrels tested out hammers, while others spent the time painting. There was also a dedicated group of "doctors" saving patients. Ask your Squirrel which activity they did during free time.
