Another beautiful fall day for the Squirrels class. We started with some free play which allowed the class to come together. The Squirrels have been loving the mud kitchen and it’s a great way for them to all work together, often around a common goal. This time there were 3 or 4 distinct groups making different mud cookies or soups. Deviate the limited water everyone shared and only took the amount that was fair for the rest of the class. Ask your squirrels who they worked with!
For our tool circle activity, we brought some gourds to carve/hammer and experiment with. They have really tough skins so the Squirrels had to be extra creative and use a little elbow grease to hammer nails or carve holes. However after taking a couple break through out class everyone was able to make some fun designs in the gourds. We will be bringing them back next class for more decorating.
We practiced a few more games and the squirrels are continuing to become more comfortable with being chased, getting caught and staying in the boundaries. However the energy level seemed low so we switched back to the creative activities and everyone soon was deep in play. We witnessed some new friendship form during this time!
