It was a beautiful day out, it felt like Spring and the snow was changing as it melted it gave us a different type of playground, slippery and wet.
As we continue with our mapping skills, we decided to add some compass games to familiarize the kids with the Cardinal (North, South, East West) and Intercardinal ( NE, NW, SE, SW) directions. What better way to learn than by playing games! We played a compass ball game and each of the Rowls had a compass to determine the direction to shoot the ball from, ask your child what they thought of the new game and how comfortable they are with using a compass. We attempted to make a sundial using sticks and the shadows it casted every hour but we got busy and lost track of the time literally.
The Rowls created a map of our area by using landmarks and invited the Rabbits to look for all the treasure they hid. Both classes had fun following the map to find all the hidden treasures!
Free time was filled with story telling with mini animals and a mini stage while others enjoyed the show and some were busy carving away in the tool circle.
In the afternoon we practiced double ball with the new leather balls they had sewn. The Rowls are excited for the big game tomorrow and they have worked hard practicing and doing drills every class, can't wait to see them play against the Owls tomorrow!
Since it was warmer we ended the day with some fire challenges "Survivor Style" each group was given 1 match to start their fire and they had to keep their fire growing high enough to burn the rope, ask your Rowl what was challenging for them and how they kept their fire going.
