It was so good to see the Owls again! Thank you for your patience as I participate in this training! Next week Ms. Melanie and Ms. Donna will be with the Owls; it is Part 1 of my classroom training. Part 2 is in November.
I was shown all the remarkable items the children are making out of grass! This week, the challenge this week was to create a strand that could hold their weight. After everyone had learned how to braid, (even though some didn't believe they could learn!), we braided braids together and...well, have a look at the pictures below!
As we collected mint for a tea, we discovered the reeds from the cattails...which enhanced our grass weaving by adding stronger cord. The zipline was also built today, and the children took turns testing it out, and building it to their satisfaction.
Lastly, the Owls have a tendency to say whatever is on their minds, and move their bodies when their bodies need to be still...we are trying out some games on the Owls that will help them learn the control they need to speak when it is the right time, and choose when to move their bodies. We believe this will enhance their communication, and their experiences in the games.
