The cold and little bit of snow the night before made for fast sledding conditions for our Tour De Hills. The temps were -20 with a windchill of -29. The Owls did great! We learned a few minor details to keep us warmer, but we are pleased to say that the Owls were well dressed and had the proper amount of resiliance to play outside for three hours straight. Ask you Owls what they can do to keep their hands a little warmer. Are mitts or gloves warmer? How much does it help to wear mini gloves under big ones? Do you like to eat in the cold? Did your veggies freeze or just get mushy?
The morning was spent testing out, naming, identifying and rating five different toboggan hills. The Owls will complete the mapping of them next week. The hills were graded on a Green, Yellow, Red gradient for risk level; a 1-5 fun level and named from any distinguishing features.

We went inside for lunch, which everyone was well ready for by the time we got there. After lunch the Owls worked on their apple face dolls....next week they should be finished! They also made some ice decorations that will also be ready next week.
To finish the day we ventured on to one last hill. This hill, properly named the shoot was an adventure and challenge to get up. Ask your Owl how they felt as we did Rose and Thorn overlooking the city while nestled into the hillside opposite the cabin.
A reminder that next week is our gift exchange. Your Owl can bring a handmade gift by them that is wrapped but unlabeled for our white elephant gift exchange.
