THIS IS HOW WE PLAY (dangerously!)... Was Avyn's humourous observation as he watched the enormous arc of a jagged piece of last week's smashed pumpkin soar across the landscape, narrowly missing another owl. The larger-than-Aven-plus-Piper slingshot had turned out to be a masterful combination of nature, craft, rubber, and brute strength. Pretty impressive risk assessment, with carefully situated members to call warnings of approaching dog walkers, and multiple improvements to enable every owl to have a shot with the pumpkin. Working together, personal bests were achieved, alongside world records. No innocent people where harmed in this operation!

Along with playing dangerously the Foxes are being challenged with their own survival story based of the book we are reading, Hatchet. Can they work together to build warmth shelter with minimal supplies before a harsh north eastern storms settles in. What will they do when the pegs holding down their tarp fails? Can they keep communicating amongst themselves? Once the shelter was made and tested, the Foxes were also challenged with logic riddles to secure water. With shelter and water secured we will be continuing next week to see if they can secure food and fire.

The Owls are also incredibly crafty and love working with their hands in the tool circle or increasingly a crocheting and sewing circle. The Owls dove right in to working on their apple face dolls and are getting right in to the different characters of each doll. We are excited to see how they will turn out!
