The Coyotes enjoyed a last day on the Bluff...the grass is higher, the so we decided to play a game of Baseball Hide and Seek (you have to go to all the bases and hide without being seen). Our experience of hiding low in the grass was twofold; there are many bugs we got to know during our hideout, as we had to let them crawl all over our faces and bodies while we waited. And, it is itchy! We decided to move on to making salad pretty soon. Our salads are getting very sophisticated with Ms. Dawn's Special Dressing, and rose petals and alfalfa flowers!

We are giving the Coyotes an 'exam' in these last classes; last week was the knot exam, and this week we had a fire exam.

  1. Start a fire with flint and steel. Here is the order we got it lit in; Mika, Hazel, Emery, Ellie, Vita, Kayley, Lucy

  2. How many matches can you light in 30 seconds? Then 10 seconds...and again!

    Mika: 11/7/6/10

    Minel: 11/5/8/10

    Ellie: 13/5/5/5

    Vita: 12/6/4/5

    Hazel: 9/6/9/11

    Lucy: 15/8/10/9

    Kayley: 15/6/5/4

    Emery: 13/8/6/10

  3. Get a fire started using one match, with enough wood to be able to roast a mini marshmallow. Here are our times (I had to step out for a little, so don't have everyone's times!)

    Lucy: 1:32, Kayley: 2:50, Hazel: 3:36, Mika: 7:13, Ellie: 11:24.....

We can see how capable they are, and how they are good at giving advice to others without coming across as bossy!

Lastly, we joined up with the Cottontails to make a slip n' slide at Prince's Island Park. With three tarps staked to the ground, we used soap and water from the river to have an amazing ride down the hill. Then, we washed off in the river. These are brave Coyotes, going all in!

Next week, bring your bikes again for an adventure! We'll be hopefully in the water (more details to come) and will have a potluck. If you're scared about what the potluck might bring, bring extra lunch just in case!
