Lucy:

What can I say about this year’s camping trip? Maybe that it was the best one yet! MISSED YOU LIKE ALL-FIRE SAFIYA!!!!

Some highlights of mine are snacking on bread, breaking through the snow and laughing at each other when we got stuck, playing a very out-of-tune guitar missing a string and singing obnoxiously, the lengthy conversations we shared, an epic little cup-song with Emery, chilling by the fire eating marshmallows, completely goofing off on the hike back, and laughing ourselves sick on the drive home with my little group.

Never going to forget the pure fun and hardships we went through<3

Mika:

Hey! Here's my blog entry for the camping trip!

Our trip to Elk Lakes Hut was SO MUCH FUN!

Of course, there were some challenges throughout the trip, like being soaking wet, cold, tired or in need of motivation, but together we did it all, helping each other from start to finish. The conditions changed very drastically from day 1 to day 2. We hiked through sun, shade, a blizzard, a bog, mud, and snow. Not just a little snow. It was actually super fun (until like kilometer 9), but you'd hit a path where every step sends you sprawling, collapsing snow, up to your waist, a group would fall, we'd here shrieking. I loved it- an adventure! Plus, we made a few bad shortcuts (that took us probably longer), because of creeks, bogs and water that was everywhere. Thankfully on the hike out everything was frozen and we only fell through a fun number of times! The hike in was definitely more challenging for us I think, because of conditions and heavier backpacks- for me anyway. By the end we were desperate for the sign to tell us we were there! We cheered so loud when we saw the cabin, and when Ms. Lea unlocked the door!

The cabin was SO cozy, everything dried overnight (mostly), including us, thanks to a fire and drying racks. There was cooking and dishes to be done throughout the trip, which we enjoyed, doing to together makes it more fun, we had many debates about the right way to do things, such as which stage of toasting do you butter toast?

My favorite parts of camping were definitely getting my hair braided, laughing and talking, Maryam and Vita singing, playing cards, toasting marshmallows, stella ella olla and tag. Hazel, I won't forget that trip to the bathroom in the night, it was scary and really fun looking back on it now!

It was definitely one of the best two days ever for me, but we missed Safiya the whole time. THANK YOU Ms. Lea and Ms. Dawn! Thank you for all the work going into the trip, spending your Sunday and Monday with us, making it happen- we love you!!!

Maryam:

This was my first time going camping, and I really, really enjoyed it. On the first day of the hike, it was really challenging for me. I got completely soaked and my legs, shoulders and hips were aching by the time we got to the cabin. We got started on cooking dinner as soon as we got dried off, and after eating and cleaning up, we played card games, chatted and made s'mores. The washrooms were surprisingly clean and I had a wonderful sleep that night. I really enjoyed spending time with everyone, and thank you, Ms Lea and Ms Dawn, for making this amazing trip happen. - Maryam

Vita:

All in all I had an amazing time on the camping trip! The hike was hard and wet, but fun! My favourite part was for sure staying at the cabin and relaxing.
