Dear Mika and Minel,

We missed you on our hike up Mesa Butte but a great thing happened for Ms Lea and Ms Dawn - we actually challenged the Coyotes for once!

Here's some highlights:

A highlight from the hike for me was probably the views! Once we got to the top it was so pretty, and the chocolates from the hikers were really yummy so it paired really well with eating it at the edge. Rolling down the big hill was also super fun.

I didn’t really know what to expect for our hike, and I was a bit nervous. When we got started, I found there was a lot of uphill, and I got tired really quickly. But it was all worth it for when we got to or checkpoint, for the view was stunning. We rested a bit, and then got back on our way. We then went downhill, which was super fun, and then saw our real summit: A giant snow-covered hill overlooking the rest of the landscape. I have to admit, I was a little daunted, but when we got going, it wasn’t so bad. The air felt so clean and fresh, and the view was even more dazzling. When we finally got to the top, we started a fire, ate lunch, and played a game. The sound of the wind was amazing. It felt so great to be on top of the world like that. Everyone was vital in climbing the hike, and everyone put in their best effort and helped others. We even met a team of hikers who gave us a little sweet, as motivation. We really missed Mika and Minel. The hike wasn’t the same without them.

I have to say, other than a few other field trips, this one was one of my favorites, and I’d love to go back.

I really enjoyed rolling, somersaulting, and sliding down the big hill on our way out. Also sliding on my knees on the wet slippery snow during the hike back.

It was a challenging and exhausting experience, but full of yodelling and laughter.

Throughout most of the hike out, I would grab three handfuls of snow, mould them into hard balls each in turn, and hurl them at trees one by one.  Watching as the snow exploded on impact as it struck its target.

I also very much relished shouting out—as the snowballs hit the trees—“ROBIN HOOD!!!”

That’s all I have to say! Peace out.

-Lucy

Hey Mika and Minel,

We really missed you on our hike this week. It was great! Since the hike was mainly uphill on the way there, I found some points quite challenging. The way down was super easy though. The air was crisp and fresh on the whole hike, and from the summit we could see downtown Calgary!!! On the last leg of the hike on the way there (which was the steepest) a group of ladies were coming down and they gave us CHOCOLATE!!!!!!
