A smaller parliament for our ghoulish Halloween week, but still mighty as can be seen by the team hoisting of Aven in the pictures.

The Owls had so much fun playing all over our bit of the bluff: name games for Ms Paige who stepped in for poor sick Ms Rikia (get well soon Ms Rikia, we missed you!); Jackpot (not sure whether anyone won the jackpot, but the group spirit and energy was certainly a win; Halloween themed Capture the Flag (human entrails/defrosted banana) became more about strategizing how not to have to touch the disgusting flags.

Sharing spooky stories over snacks was so fun that it bled into the freetime activities! We made sure to save some for our planned Haunted Shelter in the afternoon.

Ms Paige got to experience the Owls'

dastardly camouflage skills, even when we broke the rules by moving to better viewing spots - not an easy snack for these predators!

It turned out that the spontaneous hoisting in freetime was good practise for creating our haunted tarp shelter in the afternoon: some working on hoisting and securing the tarps while some were busy making pegs in the tool circle. It was declared “best haunted shelter of the week” by no less than Ms Lea, the chief crow HERSELF…who showed her appreciation by creating the most gross Walk of Terror tarp of the week - fresh whole activities and spam amidst the snapping of the mousetraps. We needed great guiders to protect our bare toes, and the Owls didn't disappoint.

Hopefully the chocolate “blood” has mostly washed off now - but any red stains will be a reminder of the challenge and successes of getting the chocolate from the forehead into the mouth. Building resilience through acquisition of bloody (and dusty) treats - perfect ending to today's spooky grossness!
