Forest School Special: Shelter, January 13

upstreamforestschool

We had a wonderful afternoon together getting to know each other and experiment with some shelter designs! We agreed we would start with a tarp shelter this week, and try a 'stick' shelter next week; they were all excited about practicing some fires with our shelter! They are all learning how to tie knots according to their age and ability; some learned the overhand knot (which we'll keep practicing!) and others learned the taut line hitch, a rolling knot great for working with tarps. Some questions you can ask your children:

- What did you like about your shelter?

- What tools did you use?

- What are you looking forward to next week?
