Coyotes, May 23

upstreamforestschool

We are in full 'get ready for camping' swing! We cooked the stew, packed our bags, adjusted our backpacks, and discussed tenting options. Since it was raining, we took advantage of the challenge to collect all our own wood, and make a campfire using the wet wood, in the rain! We are ready for anything!

Most importantly, we discussed our self-care plans. This is all about what we anticipate bugging us the most; knowing ourselves well enough to know what our 'triggers', or buttons to be pushed, will be, and how we might cope when it happens. Some of us will breathe, some will try tapping, some will pause before speaking, and some will try for some alone time. We committed to helping each other when we're feeling tired or down, and let each other know what works best with us when we're down. For example, one of us is not a morning person; she needs time to wake up. Letting her be in her own zone, without trying to cheer her up or give her energy, is what she needs, so that is what we will give her! Another of us might find the hike hard; we'll encourage her to have a snack, and maybe sing some songs to take her mind off it. Each of us has our struggles, but we also have each other!

For next week; please meet at the Cabin for 8:30. We'll do our final packing (bring everything you'll need; Vita - flashlight, the rest; toque, mitts, rain gear, water bottle), perishable food, your lunch for the day and the snacks you're making. We will be picked up at 3:30 the following day!

If you didn't receive a test 'SPOT' message two weeks ago, please let me know.

We are excited and ready to go! Thanks for all yoru support!
