Oh to have snow! The weather was cold, but the joy for snow definitley helped to keep the Cottontails warm. Thank you to the parents for making sure everyone was toasty warm!
We started the day with trying out snow shoeing and played Predator Prey with them on. It was tricky! While still warm from running, the Cottontails discovered that ice pirates left their treasure on the bluff and we had the directions to find it. The Cottontails took turns reading their compass to navigate the group in the direction of the treasure. On finding the treasure, Priya was lifted up to retrieve it from a bird house. Later, Priya described the moment as feeling excited and proud. Ask your Cottontail what the treasure was.
Before we left the bluff we lit a sparkler each and made wishes. Jono was very excited by how the sun looked like the moon behind the deep freeze.
At the cabin the Cottontails made ice catchers from wool and pom poms that we set out to freeze and will check on next week. Before heading out again we journalled! One of the Cottontails favourite activities. For this journal the Cottontails made a graph and we did a me map. This time we picked three colours: one for happy/excited, one for proud and one for scared, frustrated/unhappy. We then went through the day and coloured in how we felt during each activity in the day. There was lots of discussion about how we could feel more than one feeling at a time and how the scared feeling often turned into feeling proud.
To end the day we went across the street to check out the ice slide and blow some icy bubbles.
