We continued exploring mapping today and drew a map of our journey from the drop-off spot to our spot in the forest. The chickadees helped by finding landmarks on the way up - the climbing tree, benches, berry tree, orange signs. The finished map was very detailed. We'll use this in the future for treasure hunts to keep building mapping skills and vocabulary. In two groups we used simple maps of our spot to hide objects and find them by deciding where to look from the map. This helps the children relate their physical surroundings to the pictures on the cardboard map and make the connection between them.
The zipline was in action again. It's a popular activity for some. Some of the Chickadees prefer the tool circle, hammering, peeling and sawing potatoes. We also spent some time together learning a few new games.
