We kept with our theme of physical activities followed by more relaxing creative one. For both classes we did some more obstacle courses and learned about the Spartan code! Lots of good teamwork and support as some owls opted to wear blind folds while doing the course. There was a balance beam, rock carry, army crawl, rope climb and handstand. The morning class experimented with metal parts and wood while the afternoon class carved and did some more knot work. We will doing more knot work next week so keep making those ropes! One of the games we played worked on creating a new language to communicate to each other and guide the blindfolded owl. Ask your owl what was some of the creative sounds they came up with!
At home activities:
Continue to make rope, next week we hope to weave together a sitting mat which requires about 6 meters of rope.
Metal loose parts
Wind chimes with washers, old keys and numerous other metal bits or continue to make robots or other creatures (spiders, cats ect)
Nutty squirrel In partners (mom and baby squirrel) design a new language that can help the blindfolded person find an object. Honk mean left, clapping means go forward ect. Level one is to have the mom squirrel verbally guide the baby squirrel (blindfolded) to find the nuts (rolled up socks) laying around the yard. Level two is to have multiple pairs of mommy and baby Squirrels trying to all find the same nuts. This game really focuses on communication !
