We were able to find a snowy patch to practice more of our fire building skills this class. The Squirrels have been very interested in adding different types of materials and sizes of wood to our group fire, and since most can light a match reliably we gave everyone the chance to start and build their own. The wind made it a considerable challenge but despite this many of the Squirrels were able to get one going/keep it going or join a friend. We learned the dry wood was better then wood we found on the ground or the Christmas tree we brought up. The Squirrels practice shielding the fire from the wind and how to best place fire starter so it was easy to access yet also was protected. Ask your Squirrel about their fire making adventure.
We also tried out a new spot today which led to different types of play and interactions. The new spot had two types of forts which led to play around animals and home decoration.
We also played a few games and many of the Squirrels enjoyed sawing in the tool circle to break up the free play.
