We started our class (on this warmest of days!) by exploring a new area beside the path and making a map of the places we discovered (the slushy area, the trail around, the ice slide). Then, half of us left to hide in the forest on the way to our site, leaving arrows to help the other group find us. Then we switched! Practicing directions is part of our map and compass learning. After a game and free play, we all piled into a tree to tap out rhythms with knitting needles, experimenting with sound.
