It was a pleasure to spend the morning with Avaleigh and Ted. We headed to the bike track and found there was still a lot of snow so we dived in to a fire challenge. With a limited amount of matches we tested what would burn and found sometimes we could save on matches by using the existing fire to light the next item. Then we practiced building a teepee fire. Ted and Avaleigh worked through everything involved in lighting a fire and keeping it going. I think they now hold the record for the longest fire at forest school!

Connecting questions:

- How did you help light the fire and keep it going?

- What did we collect around the bike track to put on the fire?

- How does the kelly kettle work?
