Learning how to use the tools is a forest school-long process! Today we focussed on saw skills, with some optional drill practice. What saw to use, how to keep the wood steady, safety measures - these are all covered! With our saws, we made wood cookies to create a 'totem' or animal that we felt represented us. Ask your child what they chose, and why! The values and characteristics that came up will become a part of our vocabulary in the weeks to come!
Connections with the Indigenous ways of knowing were made through the book I Am Raven, which talks of what the animals have to give. We loved the pictures!
