The forest today was a winter wonderland, the snow definitely adds to the excitement of the upcoming holidays and we were all in the Christmas spirit singing Jingle Bells and Rudolph the Red nosed reindeer as we played games to stay warm this morning. The class was smaller as some kids were away but it didn't keep the Owls from having fun! We played "Bat and Moth" where they each took turns being the bat ( blindfolded) and made to use their other senses like hearing to find the moth. They also learned a new game called Zip Zap Zop and it was a fun way to get our minds going as we had to pay attention to the pattern, a good wake up game, ask your child to teach you and play a couple rounds, it gets tricky after awhile.

The Market is coming up and the kids have been busy making crafts for sale, from weapons carved from branches and stars made of sticks and yarn to jewellry and elaborate cat toys. We had fun ways to weave on branches and the kids called it Ninja Training, ask your child to show you how its done.

The kids are excited about the Market and as they were busy packaging, labelling and pricing their crafts, they showed special interest in the business end of it as they were discussing how they could mass produce to make more products and how to price for the most sales. It's impressive to see them plan the marketing with signs and the deals they are going to give to make it successful, be prepared to get some good deals on their one of a kind crafts!

In the afternoon they met "Daisy" the deer Hyde for the first time and worked on scraping the last bits of flesh from the skin. We are learning how to clean, and prep Deer Hyde which we will use to make authentic double balls or maybe a rug or peice of clothing, stay tuned to see what the kids come up with!
