We are loving to see the way the Owls group is finding its wings! The parliament welcomed a new member this week, Mia, who joined in happily. Inspired by last week's defeat in 'Capture the Flag' against the Strike Camp group, we started our session with a three-way version of the game, giving some opportunities to explore strategies, and understand how working together and communicating would give them a better chance. Listening to the next instalment of 'Hatchet' during snack led on to some creative flow in freetime: clay creations and whittling, bow-making and some forest exploration.
Partly inspired by the presence of our newest member, we thought through how we can get the most fun playing together, and agreed on some listening rules. It was great to hear such mature understanding of safety and respect from the group during our discussion.
Sit spot gave everyone a bit of time for grounded woodland reflection, before we joined together with the Strike Camp for an exciting game of three-way flag capturing - the sneaking was impressive, as were the courageous rescues, despite . We then got a chance to channel energy into Aven’s pumpkin pinata drama - as with all pinatas, the weapons ante needed upping before the crack. The parliament culminated in Rikia’s guided journal: ask your Owl if they remember how contour lines work!
