The Owls had a most unexpected, warm, sunny day that lead to an ease of being outdoors and an abundance of creativity.

We started the day with a few running games, but the Owls were into soaking up the sun and building so after a snack and reading a chapter from Hatchet we set up the tool circle. The Owls made utensils, rocket launchers, cross bows; they crocheted, they made a swing that became an essential part to a new game similar to baseball. We are seeing new skill levels with the tools as well as problem solving skills to engineer their designs.

Although we had many plans for the day, we set them aside so that the Owls could explore and expand on their own ideas. We saw new partnerships in play and moments of new friendships. The day cumulated into the making of a giant teepee, which almost everyone helped to make. It's funny because we had shelter building as one of our lessons, which the Owls took upon themselves and excelled in.
