The Owls had a fantastic day out in the sunshine today! We took a trip to Prince's Island for what would be a morning trip that turned into a full day as the exploring was so good!
The day's first activity was checking out the ice caves by the curling rink. We had a great conversation about risk assessment using the Red Yellow Green method that we learned on our field trip last week, and after some assessments, the Owls decided it was safe to go inside to explore!
Upon reaching Prince's Island, we evolved a hiding and running game into perhaps our new favourite game- Boggled. Ask your Owls about the rules (imagine hide n seek mixed with kick the can and the board game Boggle).
Free time was spent creating mythical lands, sword fighting, and some quiet time feeding the birds! Ari had the most success of the group on the latter and discovered that the chickadees preferred sunflower seeds!
We enjoyed lunch outside before venturing further up island for some more games, met up with Gregory and then found our afternoon hangout spot down by the river. There was lots of ice and water explorations as well as some fire building in a tin!
Our day came full circle with a lovely stroll over the Peace Bridge back to the pickup spot!
