Owls, January 24th

upstreamforestschool

Some of the Owl's dreams came true yesterday when had a visit from Elijah and Caleb who brought a hairspray powered invention to the class. This ignited the interest and imaginations of all the Owls. Not only did they get to shoot something they learned the science and mechanics behind the 'gun'. We hope to see more from these visitors in the future - especially if they bring a potato launcher!

We had a new Owl, Ashwin join the class and it was also Huxley's last day before his big trip around SE Asia! With so much happening in one day we started with some old familiar games to teach our newcomer and visitors. We also levelled up the human knot challenge by adding sharing compliments with one another and yarn. Ask your Owl if the physical, mental or emotional part of sharing compliments was the most difficult part of the challenge.

Over lunch we made pouches to add to our daily backpacks. We will be using these for future activities in recognizing one another and the gifts they bring to class.

We are going to be moving on from fire for a bit, but to celebrate the Owls advancement in fire skills we had a little celebratory potlatch. Sorry parents for the amount of marshmallows that may have been eaten!

Welcome to the Owls Ashwin! You are a natural fit with the Owls.

All the best in your travels Huxley! We cannot wait to hear your stories and see how you have grown when you are back.
