The Owls had a great field trip to Kananaskis today!
We spent our morning hiking the Big Kidd loop, a 4km trail through the forest with some beautiful viewpoints. The weather was chilly this morning, and we learned lots about ways to keep fingers and toes warm! Ask your Owl ways they learned to warm up cold toes! We learned two new games today: Squirrel Attack and Get Down Mr President, which helped us stick together as a group and stay warm. We also learned about identifying pine and spruce trees, found 4 different types of animal tracks, a mouse hole and searched for natural hearts in the forest.
We checked out the fancy hotel lobby for our lunch break. Enjoyed the cozy fire, couches and hot chocolate that Calvin and Simon brought to share! Thank you for the treat! A competitive game of scrabble, chess and chinese checkers took us to the end of lunch hour.
This afternoon we checked out an epic tobogganing hill. Many new paths both up and down the hill were explored and our last slide of the day was a race with the entire class! We ended our day with a quiet moment enjoying the sunshine and mountains.
