The Foxes started out the new year of forest school with a bang. They ended the year with wrestling and started the year with some new wrestling games. They tried the Chicken Wrestle, Protect the King, Hide the Ducky and ended with the Laneway Wrestle. It took multiple wins to get to the end of the laneway and everyone was pretty tuckered out by the end of it. I believe Talia was the only Fox to wrestle everyone in the class.

During free time the Foxes worked in the tool circle as well as put together a giant sling shot. Jude, Addy and Edison were vigilant in trying different strategies until they got the tension just right. Ask your Fox how high and far the ducky flew. This evolved into a fun game of shooting the ducky and seeing who was the first to retrieve it.

We had lunch at the curling club, where the Foxes had fun trying to figure out the rules and the best players in the mens league.

After lunch, we headed to Sammies Park to work on fire skills. In pairs the Foxes made mini fires. Everyone succeeded, but it still takes patience and perseverance to get the fire to a stable place. It's not easy to light a fire with a single match or flint and steal and no paper. By the end of the winter the Foxes will be experts! As a reward we roasted individual mini crumbles that were delicious.

To end the day Ms. Lea asked us reflective questions from the year that made us think about our relationships, our accomplishments and some of the things that changed from the beginning of 2025 to the begining of 2026.
